Las Marthas

A feature length documentary, produced by Erin Ploss-Campoamor, about an extraordinary celebration in the bordertown of Laredo, Texas.

For 116 years, this Mexican American community has honored George Washington, a man who never once set foot there. The highlight of this celebration is a Colonial Ball, where teenage debutantes are presented as guests of Martha Washington. The film follows two of the girls, Rosario and Laurita, as they prepare for this incredible rite of passage.

Las Marthas premiered on PBS/Indpedent Lens to critical acclaim: “a striking alternative portrait of border-town life." (NY Times)

Love & Monster Trucks

A feature length narrative film currently in development. Produced and co-written by Erin Ploss-Campoamor.

18-year-old artist, Impala Mata, can't wait to escape her truck-obsessed, Texas bordertown family. But the summer before she's supposed to leave for college, she falls in love with a girl -- a truck-racer, no less -- and suddenly, Impala finds herself drawn back into her family’s world, in ways she never expected.

Love & Monster Trucks is inspired by writer/director Cristina Ibarra's experiences growing up around her family’s trucks, modifying shops, junkyards, and car lots, on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border.

La Americanita

A short film, written, directed and produced by Erin Ploss-Campoamor.

La Americanita is the story of Marisol, a Cuban-American teenager, whose world is turned upside down by the arrival of her cousin Odalis, a freckle-faced, ”American-looking” girl from Cuba.

The script is loosely inspired by Erin's childhood experiences growing up in her step-father's Cuban-American home in Miami. The film takes her personal experiences and weaves them into the stories of Marisol and Odalis, two young Latinas who are both struggling with their conflicting feelings about their cultural identities.

La Americanita won two Best Short Film awards at Cinequest and the Miami Short Film Festival.
